Description

It was a very hard earned result, so even if it is rather poor in absolute terms, relatively to the context in which it was obtained, it is something.

At 9 pm the sky was clear and I put the C6 out to acclimatize.

At 11pm the sky was overcast and I put the scope back in.

At 11.30pm I had a last check and the sky was clear again!

I rushed outside the whole rig again and had barely the time to align the mount and take 5 pictures before the clouds covered the celestial vault again.

But I noticed those where fast moving clouds and hence in stints of 10-20 pictures at a time I was able to snatch from the clouds a total of 96 shots before the clouds definitively set in to stay at about 1.30pm .

During processing I had to exclude 23 more frames because of tracking issues or because they had a yellow-greenish hue probably due to very thin clouds, bordering with haze, that I had not noticed before.

So at the end the total integration time was 24 minutes and 20 seconds: hardly enough for a decent image, but it was so hardly earned that I could not help but publish it.

Hopefully better and less volatile weather will soon allow me to get a better image of this classic subject.
